Meet Author- J.Omarr
Hey readers! I want to introduce to you a great and innovative writer who goes by the name J. Omarr. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, J.Omarr's love for writing began when he was just in the 6th grade. He and one of his female cousins began competing to see who could write the best poem and it just took off from there.
"I'm in love with words" he says." Writing for me in therapeutic, it allows me to let everything go!..it's a way of getting rid of aggression".
With that being said, JUSTUS is not only a tale of crime, sex,and drugs, but a passionate love story all rolled up into one, but with a slight twist.
"As a gay writer, the primary characters will be gay!"
J.Omarr happens to be in great company with the likes of James Earl Hardy (The B Boy Blues series), Sapphire (PUSH) and the late great E.Lynn Harris who dropped some wisdom into J.Omarr upon their first meeting.
"I'll never forget, he told me only write when you feel like writing, and when you do write to completion, do NOT force yourself to write, Once the story is told, out it away for one month and then read it. If you enjoy it, go back and edit."
Even though he's a gay author, J.Omarr's objective is to mesh the gay and straight readers together; which is a great concept because the reality is we're all one and the same.
I asked him what sets him apart from other authors? "What sets me apart is I make it real; the language is real, not just in slang terms, but the conversation between the characters is so real".
I must agree with him, when reading JUSTUS, the dialogue sounds like everyday conversation we have amongst our friends, family and lovers. I felt as if I were in the midst and apart of every situation and conversation. When an author can capture me like that, that simply means he/she has done their job and done it very well.
I asked Mr.Omarr if he would offer the readers and any future writers some advice and here's what he had to say. " Honestly, tell people to be encouraged! GOD creates dreams for a reason, and if you can dream it, you can get to it!"
So readers, take the advice from this talented and humble brother and also do yourself a favor and go to www.jomarrbooks.com and order JUSTUS; I promise you will not be disappointed. I give JUSTUS 5 That's Wassup's! and I leave you with a quote from the author himself: "Time is all around you; all you gotta do is take it."
