How Can You Not Believe?

I came across this story and was blown away, I'm still amazed.High school football player Hayward Demison Jr. had just scored the winning touchdown for the friday night game. Afterwards he complained to his coach that he couldn't breathe; having been diagnosed with athletes asthma two years ago, he thought he was having an episode so he asked for his inhaler, but that only made matters worse.
After using his inhaler, Hayward collapsed right into the arms of his coach.
There just happened to be a cardiac nurse in the stands, seeing what was happening she rushed to the field. When she got to Hayward, she clearly saw that this was no asthma attack, but a heart attack. Hayward stopped breathing and was totally unresponsive so she began chest compressions.
The nurse, Lisa Lyver needed a defibrillator, but she prayed to GOD for a miracle. For at least two minutes, Hayward's heart was not beating; with her hand still over his heart, Nurse Lyver suddenly felt his heart begin to beat.
My question to you all is HOW CAN YOU NOT BELIEVE?

A Healthy Relationship

Hey readers, I came across this story and I thought I'd share it. Everyone talks about healthy relationships as far as mates, spouses and Life Partners, but what about friendships? Friendships are equally as important and we all need healthy friendships. We also need to know how to be good friends because if you can't be a good friend, then you can not be a good mate. So check this out and tell me what you think.

6 Signs you're in a healthy relationship.

Not long ago, I published an article about six qualities to admire in others, and the response was extraordinary. I prefaced the article by saying that the six I mentioned were by far not an exhaustive list, but included those traits that seemed especially hard to find. In reading all of the comments, however, I was inspired to write a follow-up list that covers some of the other qualities that I, as well as others, believe to be important when looking for friendships and relationships with others.
Our relationships are vital to our mental well-being. However, toxic relationships can really do a number on our happiness and outlook on life. As a result, it is important to look for individuals who possess qualities that allow for healthy relationships. Although, once again, not an exhaustive list, the qualities listed below are those that should be at the very heart of a healthy relationship. And, just as you would expect your friend, family member or loved one to display these qualities, it is just as important to reciprocate.

1.Loyalty: Whether it's in friendships or in family, loyalty is truly important to maintain a healthy relationship. All of us are guilty, at one time or another, of making mistakes, having ups and downs, and even displaying some behavior that we may not always be proud of. When we find friends or loved ones who can forgive us and stand by us…even during our worst moments…we should be especially grateful. That said, loyalty should never be taken for granted and we should always be deeply appreciative when it comes our way.

2.Respect: I once knew an individual who was very opinionated about political topics. She would talk down to people who disagreed with her and would be very disrespectful. Not only did she make people feel stomped on, but she left many disinterested in friendship. Treating others with kindness and the respect they deserve is important in gaining the respect that WE desire. It never feels good to be taken for granted, judged or used and it doesn’t feel good to be talked down to or treated rudely or inappropriately. There will be times that we may not always have full agreement with our friends or loved ones, but respecting them along the way is a must.

3.Unconditionally There: There is nothing worse than having someone always resurface in your life when they are in need, are looking for something or need a favor. In a culture of “you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours,” it is somewhat rare to find those “who just scratch your back,” period. Finding individuals who want you in their lives just because…and not because they want something in return is refreshing and worth holding on to. Those who are generous of heart are to be treasured!

4.Trustworthy: I once worked with a woman who, within my first week on the job, felt the need to tell me all of the intimate details of the various extra-marital affairs that had occurred with the management of the firm. She was supposedly friends with these people and I have no doubt, was told this information in the most strictest of confidences. How she felt it was appropriate to divulge this information to a new-hire like me, I still have no idea. But, it was her nature to gossip about everyone and everything. If you share something in confidence, you should be able to trust that the information will remain that way.

5.A Genuine Sounding Board: Taking a genuine interest in what others have to say and really listening to someone is important in developing solid relationships. Letting go of the “me, me, me” and focusing on the other person not only makes the other person feel valued and appreciated, but they feel that they can really talk to someone who cares. Those who take the time to really listen to our thoughts and feelings, and then help us work through difficult times and situations, share our lives at a much deeper level than those who don’t. These are individuals worth hanging on to.

6.Dependability: I had a friend who frequently would RSVP to small gatherings and then would never show. They never explained…never brought it up…and never apologized. Although this example is somewhat trivial, it still makes the point. Obviously there are times when things come up that prevent individuals from following through on what they promise, but if a friend, co-worker or family member perpetually drops the ball, they may be sending you a message. If a friend says they are going to do something or be somewhere, you should be able to count on them. And, in reciprocation, they you.

JANET...Call Her Ms. Executive Producer

This is one busy year for Ms.Janet. A Tour, a new movie, a new D and now she will executive produce a documentary. Here's the report according to The Urban Daily.

Janet Jackson serves as executive producer on a forthcoming documentary on a group of transgendered men living as women in New York City.

“T” is a slice-of-life documentary film that uses the mythic landscape of New York City to explore the lives of twelve male to female transsexual women as they uniquely and personally define what it means to be “T”.

Set against a backdrop of their peers and taking place in a world and a society slow to grasp the change in the gender landscape, “T” is an unprecedented and unflinching look deep into the souls and lives of these women of courage and self determination, women who, just like so many others, long for the promise of the American dream but so often find that promise unfulfilled – whether by choice or circumstance.

Some choose sex work, others work 9 – 5. Some are going to school, while others learn from the streets. “T” will take us into the lives of these women at a time when so much is possible for transsexual women and yet so much seems out of reach. It’s a time of hope, but also of frustration. It’s a time where some will rise and, sadly, some will fall. It’s a time whose time has come.

So readers, what do you all think of this?

Robin...Really?

On last week after the Academy Awards,Fugly ass shock jock Howard Stern and his 57 year old porch monkey sidekick Robin Quivers decided to bash Academy Award nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe; saying she will never work again because of the way she looks; calling her names such as That Fat Black Chick and a linebacker. Now, I'm not surprised about Sterns comments because that's to be expected of him, but for a black woman to sit up, dish and degrade another black woman because of her size AND skin complexion with a white man really burns me up!

This old bitch should have been proud of Sidibe, and the fact that the academy recognized an artist for their artistic contribution instead of their body size; after all Quivers was once a member of the fat club her damn self.

I honestly do not understand all of the backlash and hatred spewed at Gabby from her own community; Quivers and Stern are now saying they made these comments in an attempt to save her life; really? listen to these comments and judge for yourself.

Now here are the gruesome twosome justifying their previous statements:

WTF? Is She Serious?

Hey Readers! Now this is the most ridiculous bullshit I've heard in a minute. Former porn star Joslyn James who had an affair with Tiger Woods is demanding a private apology; Is she serious? apparently she is, but why? Her role was to be a mistress, to be the other women. Now from my understanding she wasn't the main dip and why would she think otherwise? Ladies, if you're going to take on the role as mistress, then know the rules that come along with it.

Joslyn was a porn star when she met Tiger; I'm sure he's seen her in a few movies and became intrigued. She gave up her "career" because he said he loved her and she fell in love with him. She had her hopes set on him leaving his wife and being with her. Again, ladies allow this to be a lesson, MOST men aren't going to leave what they have at home for a mistress; especially one that's an ex porn star! Unless she's Karrine Steffans and I'm still at a loss for words about that one.

Here's Joslyn making her plea with her lawyer, this in my opinion is sheer comedy.
What do you all think?

Tiger Woods Comes Out Of Hiding

Not since that terrible fight with his wife, I mean that terrible car crash on Thanksgiving night, have we heard anything from Tiger Woods. Well on tomorrow morning 11:00a.m. EST/10:00a.m. PST Tiger will hold a mini press conference apologizing to his wife and fans for letting them down. The Conference will be held at the PGA's headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

According to his agent Mark Steinberg " He will speak to a small group of friends, colleagues and close associates" and that he "Will discuss his past and his future and he plans to apologize for his behavior." Now if his wife Elin Nordegren willbe there is not known; we'll have to tune in to find out.

Now I for one do not think he owes us anything. The only person he owes is his wife because the act of adultery was committed against her. I know a lot of people get caught up into the personal lives of their favorite celebrities and feel they know them personally, but c'mon!

Well Readers, what do you all think? does Tiger owe the world an apology? Even though I don't agree with him apologizing, I'm tuning in just to see what he has to say.

What is A Man?

Okay...So last week I had a conversation with one of my straight male friends. He asked the question, "How can a homosexual male, consider himself a man when he performs sexual acts in the same manner as a woman would in the bedroom?"

I responded that ones sexuality doesn't make him a "man" What goes on in a bedroom does NOT emasculate a man. I believe a man is one who handles his responsibilities, provides for himself and his household. How many women a man is sexing does not make him a man in my opinion!

What about the man with several kids, several baby mamas, no job, no house or apartment to call his own; he's at home with his mama or laying up on some woman who's just happy to have a man in her house so she allows him to free load.
Is that what a man is? So I'm asking you all to weigh in on this topic PLEASE!!!
What is a man?

LADY O SAYS "HELL NO!!!"

Hey Readers! In the words of one of my dearest friends Lisa McDuffy, "Now he done tore his drawers!" When she says that, that means someone has messed up beyond repair. Oprah Winfery has instructed her staff to NEVER book John Mayer. His use of the word Nigger, his candid talk of his sexual excursions with Jessica Simpson and Oprah's close friend Jennifer Aniston have made the Queen of daytime a not so happy camper. I don't have to repeat what he said in his initial interview with Playboy; Hell, everyone knows.

Here's a quote from popeater.com:“Oprah is the smartest person on TV and will not let John use her or her show to ask for forgiveness,” a PopEater source dishes. “If John really wants to apologize for his racist and sexist comments, he should find somewhere else. The only way Oprah, who is a dear friend of Jennifer Aniston, would ever book him is if John were interested in having a much deeper conversation about race, women and fame.”

Now, I for one wouldn't accept his apology because it's how he really feels; He's not apologetic for what he said, he's sorry for saying it to a world wide publication. Oprah doesn't want or need him on her couch to boost ratings.
Maybe this will be a lesson learned and he'll know what thoughts to keep to himself.

Forgive & Forget? Or Fugg Hiim?

Recently Pop sensation John Mayer stated in an interview with playboy magazine that black people love him and he should be given a hood pass.
While explaining the meaning of a hood pass, Mayer said, "It's sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass."..say what???

So now, he retracted his statement and issued an apology via twitter“I am sorry that I used the word. And it’s such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself.
It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged.”

So, do we as black people forgive & forget or just flip him the bird and say fugg him?

Sweeping Our Dirt Under The Rug

This is a story I came across and felt the need to address this.

*Writer, Armond White had some very harsh things to say about the movie, “Precious” in an article in the New York Press. He blames Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry.

"SHAME ON TYLER PERRY and Oprah Winfrey for signing on as air-quote executive producers of Precious.

Perry and Winfrey naively treat Precious’ exhibition of ghetto tragedy and female disempowerment as if it were raw truth. It helps contrast and highlight their achievements as black American paradigms—self-respect be damned.

He goes on to compare the movie to the “Birth Of A Nation,” the 1915 movie which portrayed Africans Americans as evil and stupid and the KKK as heroes.

Not since The Birth of a Nation has a mainstream movie demeaned the idea of black American life as much as Precious. Full of brazenly racist clichés (Precious steals and eats an entire bucket of fried chicken), it is a sociological horror show. Offering racist hysteria masquerading as social sensitivity, it’s been acclaimed on the international festival circuit that usually disdains movies about black Americans as somehow inartistic and unworthy.

Birth of a Nation glorified the rise of the Ku Klux Klan as a panicky subculture’s solution to social change. Precious hyperbolizes the class misery of our nation’s left-behinds—not the post- Rapture reprobates of Christianity’s last-days theories, but the Obama-era unreachables—including Precious’ Benetton-esque assortment of remedial school classmates. One explanation is that Precious permits a cultural version of that 1960s political controversy “benign neglect”—its agreed-upon selection of the most pathetic racial images and social catastrophes helps to normalize the circumstances of poverty and abandon that will never change or be resolved. You can think: Precious is just how those people are (although Cops and the Jerry Springer and Maury Povich shows offer enough evidence that white folks live low, too)."*

When I read this, all I could do was shake my head and wonder, when will black people stop sweeping their dirt under the rug? I wish we would address what goes on within our families and our communities then maybe we could come up with solutions. When the movie was first released, there were all types of reviews; some positive and a lot negative. The positive came from movie critics; the ones who are paid to do so. The majority of the negative was spewed from the mouths of black critics; some paid to do so, others just ordinary people offering their opinion. The gag is a lot of the negative opinions came from people who refused to watch and support the movie saying it was modern day buffoonery. How can one critique something they've never seen?
By now, everyone knows the basis of the movie; when I asked my niece who happens to be a social worker if she thought this was realistic she said "It was so real, a few times I almost had to leave the theater...I see cases like this or really similar all the time." The truth of the matter is, we all know or know of a Claireese "Precious" Jones.
We try to pretend we have it all together, as if everything is perfect. We don't wanna give "them" anything else to talk about, don't want "them" all up in our business so we sweep it under the rug. Molestation, Rape, Suicide, Abuse, just sweep it all under the rug and forget it's there, pray that it goes away! That's what we've been doing for centuries and the reality is, that's why so many of us are messed up inwardly. Situations of the past that have been left unsaid has caused so many of us mental turmoil.
It's time to talk about it, release it and work it out! For a lot of people criticizing this movie, I'm sure they're viewing this as a mirror being held up to them and they're afraid of facing their truth. What do you all, the readers think? please chime in on this one.

Where Are The Parents?

This is a prime example why parents need to monitor what their children do. This 11 year old child should NOT be singing this song; grant it, she sounds 100% better than Cassie (the original artist who sang the hook), but still...these are not the lyrics for a child. Take a listen, and what would you do if you heard your child singing this or do you think there's nothing wrong with this at all? Tell me what you think.

Infidelity: Who's To Blame?

A few years ago, a friend of mine who was single at the time said " If any man gay or straight says that he is faithful, then that man is a liar!" We debated about this for several hours. I said that's not true because I'm a man and I know how to be faithful, I'm not afraid of commitment. He found another man to side with him and his response was, "We (men) are born to cheat! Look at the lions, they have numerous mates..." I said it then, and I say it now, that is a load of bullsh*t!

The reality is, it's about self control; No matter if you're single, just dating, or married, you're going to see someone you consider attractive. That does NOT mean you have to sleep with them.Even though infidelity has been around since the beginning of time, it seems now it's at an all time high.

Now here's a question, say your mate/spouse cheats and has a child with the person, how would you handle it? would you take it out on the other person, your mate or the innocent child? Well I hope none of my readers aren't anything like Kisha Jones from Brooklyn,NY. Jones a scorned 38 year old woman who took revenge to twisted levels beyond words, found out her husband was having an affair with a 25 year old woman who was also was seven months pregnant.
Jones then played detective, got the woman's name (Mo'Nique Hunter),used a stolen prescription pad to prescribe cytotec also known as the abortion pill. She then (allegedly) used a spoof calling website and posed as someone from Ms.Hunter's doctor's office tell her the drug would prevent the baby being born with down syndrome. Ms.Hunter took the drug and went into premature labor. The baby still in intensive care, survived in spite of and that didn't sit well with Mrs.Jones.She then sent a man into the hospital who was to deliver breast milk from the mother. The hospital being leery, tested the white liquid and found out it was a toxic substance. The man has yet to be identified, but Jones is now charged with attempted abortion, assault, reckless endangerment, forgery and criminal impersonation.

And for what? all because her husband was cheating. Why should she go after an innocent child? or in my opinion Mo'Nique Hunter? Her relationship/marriage is with her husband (Anthony Jones). Now because she was blinded by fury and rage, her freedom is being taken away and rightfully so. Now readers, let's talk about this, Do you confront the other person or your mate if infidelity takes place? Let's Dish and talk about it!

To Be or NOT To Be...GAY!

Since the early part of this month, there have been rumors on the radio and written on diverse blog sites about Trey Songz being either Bi, openly gay or a brotha on the DL. He is one of many celebrities whose sexuality has been questioned. Along with Trey, you have Rockmond Dunbar, Will Smith AND his wife Jada Pickett-Smith, Missy Elliott, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, The Late Great Luther Vandross, Freddie Jackson, Queen Latifah and the list goes on and on...

All of the celebs listed have fought to prove they are not. When a black celebrity is listed as gay it's like they become black balled from the black community and the entire industry; case and point Tevin Campbell. Tevin Campbell was an extraordinary talented vocalist. When he first sang (I Hope) Tomorrow Will Bring, the critics deemed him the next Michael Jackson! In 1999, while he was riding high on his career, he was arrested for soliciting oral sex from an under cover police officer posing as a male prostitute. He was what I call snatched out of the closet and wasn't given a fair chance. Sadly, his career came to an abrupt end. No one was checking for Tevin anymore; he was shunned away by the black community; his own people.

This is the very reason black celebrities who really are gay can't come out to the public; it's the same reason why so many ordinary black men and women stay hidden in the closet or in an unwanted heterosexual relationship because the black community will disown, and disgard them like yesterday's news. It would be like committing career suicide. For years people have speculated about Queen Latifah's sexuality;
and I love her for not telling one way or another and why should she?
It all started when she played Cleo in the movie Set It Off. I actually had conversations with people who said " NO! she played that part too good!"...WTF is that? correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't she paid to act? If she had not been convincing, the same people would've said " They should've got someone else to play that part!" You just can't please everybody.

Now here it is, Trey Songz is riding high on his new CD, he's in high demand, and he's making good money. Someone or some people are not happy for him, so what do they do? they put out the rumor that he's gay and is in a committed relationship with inde singer/songwriter Brandon Hines.(Allegedly) People have brought proof of this relationship to a certain blog who is constantly writing about this. They're claiming they have pics of them together and naked pictures of Trey Songz (I'll keep my thoughts to my self about the latter..whoo)! These were submitted by someone who claims to have been a "friend" of Trey Songz. They told stories of how Trey carries on around Atlanta,How he cheats on Brandon and what types of guys he likes.

The alleged information was submitted to the black owned blog by a black straight man. Children, listen to me good... IF he has that type of information and he knows for a fact all that went on in the alleged relationship between Trey and Brandon, that man is NOT straight! My guess is, he's jealous that Trey's career is taking off and his is still at square one, he hasn't passed go and he hasn't collected his $200.00. It's a shame that we as black people try to destroy one another instead of building one another up.

Perhaps, if the black community were accepting of gay people, no one would have the power to attempt to destroy another's career. For some odd reason, in the black community, being gay is the absolute worst thing you could be. When people come out, a lot of times, their family and (so called) friends ostracize them and turn their backs on them. If a black celebrity who is considered a star to us came out, we would stop purchasing their music, books, or whatever else they had for sale,
wouldn't go to their movies, we would just stop supporting their career period.
When a Caucasian celebrity comes out, they are supported the more (IE: Rosie, Ellen and Elton John). and I ask, WHY IS THAT?

What does one sexuality have to do with ones talent? Who they're sleeping with does not affect how well they sing a song or act in a movie. I've been told "It messes up the fantasy." For real? That's the best one can come up with? Well, since it's a fantasy, why not fantasize he's straight? It's just silly to me. I don't know if the rumors about the Queen, Will & Jada or Trey are True or False, all I care is that they give me what I expect and pay for and that's excellent entertainment.

So, I'm asking you to give me honest feedback, does it matter if your favorite or a celeb is gay or not?... Holla @ me somebody!

Donnie Simpson FIRED!

Donnie Simpson, The original green eyed bandit was a fixture in my household from 1982 until the end of Video Soul on BET in 1996. Donnie is a legend in his own right, being in radio for over 30 years, making waves and setting trends for up and coming radio personalities was recently fired from his extended tenure at WPGC because of low numbers and failure to appeal to a younger audience. This decision was brought about because of ratings declining and conflict between Donnie and the managers of WPGC who started adding the latest hits of today's (and I use the term loosely) artists to his playlist; which was tuurning away loyal listerners.

I honestly feel the entire entertainment industry disregards those of us that fall into the 35 and older bracket.Donnie Simpson is a soldier (in my opinion) he declined a party to be hosted in his honor in mid March. He began last week telling listeners what the real tea was. I'm sure DC and everyone who listens to The Donnie Simpson Morning Show will miss him greatly.

If you want to make a difference, let your voice be heard! send emails, make phone calls, write letters to WPGC. Here's the address for those of you in the DC area.
The business office is open daily from 8:30am to 5:30pm. WPGC 4200 Parliament Place, Suite 300, Lanham, Maryland 20706. You can contact WPGC 95.5 at (301) 918-0955 Or since they are owned by CBS you can go to www.cbsradio.com and shoot them an email.

Who's Going To Protect Us From The Police?

On the evening of Janurary 11th, around 11:00p.m. in Pittsburg, PA 18 year old Jordan Miles decided to take a walk from his house to his grandmothers house because that's where he spent most of hs nights. Walking past a white care with three caucasian men sitting on the inside, Jordan thought nothing of it until one yelled out "Where's the money?" as he kept walking, the men got out of the car yelling for him to stop. Once they approach him, they ask "Where's the money and the drugs?"

He decided to turn around and go back to his mom's house, but trying to run away from them, Jordan slipped and fell on the icy sidewalk. Once the men caught up with him, they began to kick, punch, choke and beat him; even giving him a knee to the forehead.
Once that stopped him from "resisting" they put him in handcuffs, never once saying they were police officers. They claimed they were taking force with him because the object in his coat was believed to be a gun, but after the investigation, they found out it was only a bottle of Mountain Dew. Now here's the tea... Jordan says there wasn't anything inside of his pockets and he hardly ever drinks Mountain Dew.

Something just ain't right! This type of shit is happening in every city across the United States! Jordan is 5'6" and weighs approximately 150lbs, He's a student at the Creative of Performing Arts; He plays the Viola. Why would it take three well built men to bring him down IF he had anything to begin with? Watch this video as Jordan tells his story and Let's Dish...
